Description
2 Piece Perth Clay Penetrometer (DCP) Kit with Carry Case
The Perth Clay Penetrometer (commonly referred to as the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer or DCP) is a robust, field-proven instrument used to assess the strength and compaction of clayey and cohesive soils. It is widely used in geotechnical engineering, pavement evaluation, and construction quality control. The device measures soil resistance by recording the number of blows required for a cone-tipped rod to penetrate the soil, using a standardized drop weight.
Designed for clay-rich soils where sand penetrometers are unsuitable, the DCP provides a reliable indication of soil shear strength, CBR values, and bearing capacity.
Applications:
- Road subgrade investigations
- Pavement rehabilitation projects
- Site classification for foundations
- Quality control of compacted clay fill
