The MT275 is a high voltage proximity detector that has 10 voltage settings from 240V AC to 500kV AC. The MT275 provides a wide 120⁰ angle for non-contact detection with an internal pickup sensor plate that senses the radiated field which surrounds live conductors, the field strength increases with voltage and decreases quickly with distance or earthing shields. When testing for high kilo voltages the MT275 can be used in conjunction with long insulating link sticks or hot sticks. There is a built-in self-test range to verify the detector is in working order.
