Suparule 190 – Cable Height Meter – Height Meter for Telecommunications and Electrical Industry
The SupaRule Cable Height Meter is a handheld meter for measurement of cable sag, cable height distance, and overhead clearance of conductors. It is a modern alternative to telescopic measuring poles. The SupaRule Cable Height Meter utilises ultrasonic signals to determine the height of overhead cables up to 15 meters (23 meters with the 600 model).
Used by line operators within the utilities industries, e.g., electricity and telecomunications, the CHM 190 measures the height of a single wire.
Since 1989, Suparule has used its considerable technical skills and resources to develop a number of unique technologies. These technologies have been patented and are now trademarked as SMF Technology™ (Suparule Magnetic Field Technology). The technologies are based on the measurement of the magnetic and electric fields generated from a current carrying conductor. The unique advantage of SMF Technology™ is that measurement is done non-invasively and the sensor rejects interference from other external fields. The solutions are achieved at a significantly lower cost, with higher accuracy levels than conventional measurement solutions.
How It Works
The Cable Height Meter emits short bursts of sound which originate from the cone-shaped transmitter. The microprocessor in the instrument calculates the elapsed time for the burst of sound to be reflected from the cable back to the instrument. The result can be displayed in either imperial or metric format.
To account for the fact that speed of sound varies with temperature, a temperature sensor, mounted at the front of the instrument, senses the actual air temperature, and automaticcaly compensates.
